This Old Testament study is designed for older students with some worksheets and printables that correspond for younger students so they can be used in classes with several ages together or used specifically for the lesson. Most of these lessons have project printables for younger students that I have been wanting to add for some time. All of the worksheets have the teacher's answer sheets included and most are in black & white.
To make the Flip Book, cut on the dotted line to separate the top from bottom. Cut the bottom pictures out on solid line. Layer in order and staple as shown on the gray rectangle. Fold the Foldable Book in half lengthwise, then fold in page 3, then fold the front cover on the line. The Spinner and Foldable Book are in color and black & white. The Flip Book and Spinner work best if printed on cardstock or heavier paper.
This is an update from a post that was long overdue! This is a one-page printable that is in color and black & white. It's super easy to make and the kids love this! Plus, it's a discussion starter to discuss how different it was to travel back then vs. how we travel now. It is also fun to prepare a suitcase/bag (something easy to pull stuff out) and take some hand-on stuff. See more here.
These mini suitcases would be a fun addition for this lesson! There are so many little options you could tuck inside them. There are a lot of different ones to choose from, so compare prices with how many you need.
The first worksheet was designed for those asking for cut & glue. It is an easy scripture to cut out the words and glue them in order. The students will also write out the verse. This was a suggestion from a teacher. There is a Reader Worksheet which has pictures for the students to write the number under each to put them in order after reading the summary of the lesson. A number code, alphabet code and maze worksheets are included. The review worksheet has been updated. The write it out has three pictures that the students will write about to describe Abraham. The thought question can be used as in introduction to the lesson, or as a conversation starter after the lesson.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
These printables can be used for this lesson and any other appropriate lesson and were kept plain intentionally for this purpose. A key verse was chosen to use for discussion, memory work, and copy work. Students can color or paint the designs on the banner, poster, door hanger and bookmark. Stickers can be added. String or ribbon can be added to the banner to hang and on the bookmark.

When I described God telling Abraham his descendants would be like the dust on the earth, I opened the container with dirt. I pinched a small amount and showed them the dirt particles on my finger and said that we can't count these small grains of dirt, and to think of all the dirt/dust that is on the earth. That was what God was telling Abraham! That's a lot of descendants; you can't even count them! The photo with the stars in the sky was next and they understood that they can't count the stars. Then someone asked what was in the container with the seashells, and guessed it was sand. I did the same thing with the grains of sand, and they loved it so much, they all wanted to pinch it, too! This was a fun, easy demonstration.
