In the Beginning VBS: 1. Creation

I purchased this Galaxy background from Group last year since we typically start planning early. The Group backgrounds are great because they cover a whole wall perfect!

The 12' 9' hanging stars decoration is hanging from the ceiling in front of the Galaxy wall and looked incredible! I added glow-in-the-dark stars to each hanging star and the kids loved everything hanging from the ceiling! 

I found these 3-D planets that we hung with fishing line at assorted levels all over the ceiling with this honeycomb sun in the center (I cut off the face). I couldn't get a good picture of them, but the kids loved it so much, I think there should be something hanging from the ceiling every VBS!

I stapled the creation numbers to the wall for each day of creation which can be used as visuals, too.

For a review activity, we did what they love to do in class. They tossed a blowup ball that looks like the world to each other and the person that catches it names something God created. It can be broken down into themes like favorite animal, farm animals, safari animals, birds, ocean, etc. That keeps them from repeating. Then name a fruit or vegetable God created, or even name a certain color fruit or vegetable. Name something God created outside. Look out the window, or go outside and look and hear and name it, like the sun, clouds, trees, rocks, grass, etc.

We sang the Days of Creation song each night, and they really love that song!

I also ordered the animal standups from here because they were on clearance last year. The cardboard standups make a great impact on the final look of the decorating, and everyone loved them. 

This background has Adam naming the animals. I cut Adam to fit so he looks like he is behind the animals since he needed to be covered. Click here to download the top of Adam. I purchased the animal standup last year when they were on clearance. I had the lions from our Daniel VBS. I found one of the lions at an after Christmas sale at Target. 

I ordered this star projector, and we were going to use it as we talked about God creating the stars. I thought it was a good idea but decided not to use it at the last minute.
