Bible ABC's: M is for March
Joshua and the March Around Jericho
These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme.
Consider these an update with new ideas and printables!
This easy-to-cut puzzle for Jericho is an option for something different! Students can put the puzzle together, and use the stand-ups or their fingers to walk around the perimeter. They can shout and scramble the pieces and 'make Jericho' flat! Pieces can be put in an envelope or plastic sandwich bag.
The kids really love the Envelope Flips and Stand-Ups! Everything folds and fits into the envelope. They like to retell and move everything around. These can be used for a small teacher's visual depending on your class size.
Rahab's background can be glued to the back of the envelope for the battle. If you want to teach Rahab separate from the battle, the background can be held up or leaned against something. Or it can be glued to an envelope and the people can be tucked into the envelope pocket to take home. These work best printed on cardstock. Color and black & white are both included.Print these backgrounds on cardstock and fold in half. This can be used instead of the envelope if you prefer. Stand-Ups can be used to retell the lesson or these can be used as the visual. When Jericho falls flat, just lay the broken bricks picture down on the table for the flat city!
These can be used for this lesson and any other appropriate lesson and were kept plain intentionally for this purpose. These are a reminder to be strong because God is with us. Students can color or paint the designs on the banner, door hanger and bookmark. Stickers can be added. String or ribbon can be added to the banner to hang and on the bookmark. The color-by-number-code is the Joshua 1:9 verse and has a completed Teacher's picture. There is a Rahab maze. The Jericho maze shows the order of the men walking around Jericho and that is why it is a circle maze. Crossing the Jordan has the students going over rocks and they count them as they go through the maze. There are extra rocks placed that are not close to their path so they don't mix their count up. There is a completed and numbered teacher's copy included.
This fill-in-the-blank worksheet covers all three lessons from Joshua 2-6. Because there is so much information discussed, I added the answer sheet for the teacher. In case you wondered, I don't usually add the answer sheet because the teacher should spend some looking it over and filling it out before teaching the students so there is an awareness of what is covered. These are intended for review, and question & answer discussions for more learning.
I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. These are divided into the three sections: Rahab, crossing the Jordan and the battle of Jericho. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Or, they can write the scriptures. There is another worksheet without the writing space. These can easily be used for mixed age groups. Cut and glue according to directions.
