Bible ABC's: J is for Joseph
Part 1: Joseph in Genesis 37
This is the early years through Joseph being sold.
These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme.
Consider these an update with new ideas and printables!
I decided that love one another is a good application for this lesson. We read that Joseph's brothers hated him several times. These can be used for this lesson or any lesson that you want to discuss love. I kept them focused on love for that purpose. The first worksheet had a concept heart chart that can be used best for your students. After reading and writing or copying, discuss how our attitude can be changed if we decide to (try) to love one another, instead of hating people. Or, write things that happened in Genesis 37 and what the brothers would have reacted differently instead of letting hatred take over. Discuss personal responsibility. Even though they were jealous, it is not okay to want to hurt or kill others. Or discuss a situation like Joseph getting the special coat and being jealous. How should they have handled their emotions and what should students do now. There are so many possibilities!
The Flip Book is easy to use for younger students. Again, discuss love and how to treat others and what love means. This is in color and black & white.
The kids really love the Envelope Flips and Stand-Ups! Everything folds and fits into the envelope. They like to retell and move everything around. These can be used for a small teacher's visual depending on your class size.
This is what needs printed. These work best printed on cardstock. Joseph is two-sided and flips around when he is 'put into the pit'. Color and black & white are both included.

Love one another is a great application for this lesson!
These Love one another printables can be used for Joseph and any other appropriate lesson and were kept plain intentionally for this purpose. Students can color or paint the designs on the banner, door hanger and bookmark. Stickers can be added. String or ribbon can be added to the banner to hang and on the bookmark.
The first is a Reader Worksheet. The wording from the scripture is as easy to read as possible with sight words while keeping to the key points with easy to answer questions. The second is a fill-in-the-blank worksheet. Color and black & white are included for both.
I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Or, they can write the scriptures. There is another worksheet without the writing space. These can easily be used for mixed age groups. Cut and glue according to directions.
