Gideon Song

New song and ideas shared by Jeanne Dickson!

Thank you to Jeanne for permitting me to use the songs and create flipcharts to share.

This includes the one-page song to print and the color flipchart.

This is a longer song and it is perfect to remind the students the order of what Gideon did.

Gideon Accessories ideas by Jeanne!

Wool, torch, pitcher and horn. The wool and horn came from yard sales, the pitcher came with some cooking utensils and the torch is made from yellow & red netting, a rubber band and a broken tree limb.

Here's another idea Jeanne uses for Gideon in her class.

This is a fun hands-on project, but a little bit messy! But I'm sure it will stick in their minds for some time. I took an aluminum baking tray and filled it with water, which FYI makes a simple, but mess producing prop.
I told the students they didn't have cups to drink from, asked them how they would drink the water. It There were two boys present and each one of them said different things. One boy demonstrated by lapping like dog, while the other scooped the water up with his hands.

It made for an interesting demonstration! The boys kept wanting to shove it between them, thus causing the water to slop over the sides. Jeanne said "I didn't really think about the flimsiness of the roasting pan, so something sturdier would definitely be better. Should I decide to do it again, I think I'll plan for a trip outdoors and use a wading pool!"

This is a Tupperware container which worked well, but you can find cheap containers at Dollar stores and Wal Mart to use. Spread out a towel to put it on and have extra towels to dry off. If the students have long sleeves, roll them up if they are putting their hands in because the water will run down their arms when they take it to their mouth.

The Newsletter Foldable can be used as a review handout, sent in the mail or in an email, especially for those unable to be in class. The same lesson is included for the teacher.

This is the inside with the lesson and pictures. On the outside, Jeanne adds notes and assorted items. She might add a Bible verse, memory verse, a Bible song or two, a picture to color, a reward reminder and/or notes about class and hello to students. You could add a puzzle, maze, worksheet, whatever you prefer.
