4.9B. Jesus Heals a Centurion’s Servant

www.biblefunforkids.com
The centurion had so much faith in Jesus, he didn't even need Jesus to go to his house! Jesus healed his servant just by saying "He will be healed!" Scripture is Matthew 8:5-10.
This lesson is intended for preschool because of its length but can be combined with other miracles to make a longer lesson for early elementary ages.

When Jesus arrived in Capernaum, a centurion came to Jesus. The centurion is a Roman soldier that is in charge of 100 men.

The centurion explained to Jesus that he has a servant at home that is paralyzed and in a lot of pain and about to die.

Jesus told the centurion that He would come to his house and heal the servant. But, the centurion replied that all Jesus had to do is say the word and his servant would be healed. Jesus didn’t need to come to his house!
The centurion said that “I have soldiers under me and have the authority to tell them what to do. If I tell a soldier to go, he will go. If I tell another soldier to come, he comes. If I tell a soldier to do something, he will do it.”

When Jesus heard of the centurion’s faith in Him, he was amazed! Jesus told him that He had not seen such faith before! The centurion believed that Jesus could heal his sick servant and not even have to touch him!

Jesus told the centurion to go ahead and leave. The centurion believed so Jesus said his servant would be healed.

And, his servant was healed right then! Jesus healed people! When the power of Jesus healed someone, it is called a miracle. Scripture is Matthew 8:5-10.

I created these as a discussion/review for the lesson. Depending on the ages of your preschool class, they probably can't read the numbers on the cards. They probably won't even see them! They are for the teacher and the parents to help the students put the facts in order. An idea is to print one in color for the teacher to use and print the students in black and white. Our age group loves to color! These will work best if printed on cardstock. They can be put in a baggie, or use a hole punch to make a hole and use a ribbon or snap ring to keep them together. We used these shields, some costume Roman helmets, and a blanket laid out and let the students act out this lesson. The shield download includes the color and black & white to print and directions are on the last page. Click here to download.

  1. Hi, Debbie. As one of two lead teachers for our church's "Special Buddies" (special needs children) Sunday school class, I just wanted to first share with you how thankful & appreciative the staff and children are for the incredibly godly, fun, colorful & creative lessons and materials you so freely offer on your site. Our children just love them! Thank you for blessing so many thousands of people with the wonderful artistic & creative talents the Lord has blessed you with, and through this website ministry. We praise God for you!
And, in regards to this particular lesson...having already prepared the "Jesus Heals a Centurion's Servant" lesson (for class tomorrow) earlier in the week, I just got on your site to print-out a visual needed for the "miracles" lap books we are currently helping the children to make. Imagine my surprise and utter delight to find you just posted a lesson for this story yesterday! Wow! God's timing is always perfect, and the kids are going to love adding the story cards to their lap books! Thank you, friend! Blessings, Kerie

  2. Thank you! I'm teaching K SS and will use the B&W images for the kids to color and each make a little booklet to take home. Love this and appreciate you sharing.
