This week Joseph is put in charge while he is in prison and we look at Pharaoh's Dreams. This is lesson 12 in the first quarter of a year
of Preschool Bible Study that I assist with on Wednesday evening.
These are the visuals that can be made for this lesson.

We have been
learning about Joseph. Joseph is found in the book of Genesis (41) in the Old
Testament. Genesis is the very first book in the Bible! Joseph’s father Jacob
gave Joseph a coat of many colors. Joseph’s brothers were so angry, they threw
him in a pit, then sold him to traders. The traders took him to Egypt. Joseph
was a servant for Potiphar, but his wife told a lie and Joseph was put in
prison.
Last week, the
chief baker and chief butler told Joseph about a dream they each had. With God’s
help, Joseph told them what their dreams meant and the dreams happened. Just
like Joseph had said.
It is two
years later and Joseph is still in prison. Pharaoh had dreams that he didn’t
understand. Pharaoh dreamed that he stood by a river and seven fat cows came out
and ate in a meadow. Then seven sick, skinny cows came up and ate the fat cows.
The next time he slept, he dreamed about seven good ears of corn on one stalk and then seven thin ears of corn came up in the east and ate the good corn.
Pharaoh called for his magicians to tell him what they meant, but they didn’t
know.
The butler remembered Joseph, and told Pharaoh that Joseph could interpret his dreams. Joseph was brought before
Pharaoh.
Pharaoh told Joseph about the dreams. Joseph told him
that there would be seven good years of food and then there would be seven years of
famine (no food). Joseph told Pharaoh he should put a man in charge of saving
food in the seven good years so that in the seven bad years, there would be enough food
for the people.
Pharaoh said that Joseph was wise and discreet. Pharaoh put Joseph second in command, a Governor, and only
Pharaoh would have more power than Joseph in Egypt!
Joseph was 30 years old. He had two sons during the seven good years and
when the seven years of famine (hunger) came, Egypt had all the food they needed.
The people in the lands around them ran out of food and when they came to
Pharaoh to ask for food, he sent them to Joseph. Whatever Joseph commanded to
be done with the food, is what Pharaoh did. So, anyone that wanted to buy food had
to see Joseph first.
Joseph was faithful to God, even while he was in prison. God was with
Joseph and gave him the answers that Pharaoh wanted. Next week, we will finish
our lessons about Joseph. Remember, anyone that wanted to buy food in Egypt,
had to see Joseph first. Joseph went from being in prison to being the governor
of Egypt.
Since the kids love crowns so much, I created this Pharaoh headpiece that can be used with any lesson with Pharaoh. We used these as part of the project and take home for Pharaoh. There are a couple of different colors and a black and white. Each color choice includes the choice of having the cobra or not. Print on cardstock and add a cardstock strip to make a headband. These are suitable for preschool size heads. Click here to download.
I purchased these Joseph sticker sets and divided them according to each lesson for the four weeks. Each pack makes enough for 3 students.
We used this Flip Chart Song that goes over the Life of Joseph. I divided Joseph into 4 lessons and we sang it each week. Click here to download it.
We used these Magnetic Board Visuals to teach the Joseph lessons. Joseph is divided into 4 lessons and some of these will be used for more than one lesson. These are combined into this one download and includes all the visuals for all the Joseph lessons. Click here to download the set of Joseph MBV.
Also, I combined the four lessons into one download to be used with the MBV. These are the same lessons, but have the corresponding numbers to use each visual. Click here for the MBV lessons.
