Preschool Alphabet: F is for The Great Catch of Fish

www.biblefunforkids.com
These preschool Bible lessons are created and used at home, so there are some basic preschool learning skills printables added to each post. The Bible lesson and Bible printables are suitable for home or Bible class use. This week is F for Fish.

The Bible lesson is found in John 21:1-14. The Disciples are waiting to see Jesus, and Peter decides that he is going fishing. The other 6 disciples tell him they will go also. (Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, the brothers: James & John and 2 more Disciples not named) [probably Andrew & Philip]

They are at the Sea of Galilee. They are fishing all night but they do not catch any fish. In the morning, there was a man on the shore and they didn’t know who He was. He asked them if they had any food and they said no.

He told them to “Cast the net on the right side of the boat and they would find some.” (John 21:6) When they tried to pull up the net, it was so full of fish, they couldn’t pull up the net! (another miracle) John told Peter that it’s Jesus! Peter was so excited that he pulled on his coat and jumped into the sea and swam to the shore! The other Disciples went in the fishing boat and brought it to the shore, dragging the full net behind them. (about 100 yards) The net was too full to pull into the boat!

Once they landed on shore, they saw a fire with fish laid on it and there was bread also. Jesus told them to “Bring some of the fish you just caught.” Peter went over and dragged the net onto land. It was full of large fish! There were 153 fish and the net wasn’t torn! Jesus told them to “Come and eat breakfast!”  When they went over to Jesus, He gave them bread and fish to eat.

I keep the netting from different items like ham, some fruit, etc. to use for these lessons.  You can see the boat with Jesus and His Disciples here. The Fish are here.

  11. Thank you! I am always looking for ways to teach my preschooler (3yr) how to better learn the bible besides just reading it to him. I will have to try this. I love that F is for fishing (he loves fish so hopefully it'll help him remember). Thank you for these great ideas! I found your link on waiting on...Wednesday.
