Cathy's Corner: Week 2

Tuesday, April 21, 2015
This week continues the scriptures and thoughts of my Sister-in-Law Cathy Whitacre.
Cathy Whitacre has touched a lot of lives with her special personality. It is with much sorrow that her body cannot fight cancer this time due to other issues. Cathy is content to be able to be home with her family and Hospice care.  These are Cathy's daily thoughts which I am posting a week at a time. She wants to use this time in a positive helpful way and we pray that these scriptures and thoughts might encourage you.

More about Cathy! The following poem was written by Cathy's Sister-in-Law and is used with permission. I have kept Dorene's note with her poem. Thank you for letting me share it!
I was thinking of you this morning and wrote this just for you my SISTER. It describes you perfectly.
S is for your Sweet and caring personality.
I is for your Interest in God's Word.
S is for our Silliness and laughter we share together.
T is for your Teaching ability of God's Word.
E is for Every good work you do for others.
R is for the Respect and love you show.

Acts 20:7 "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together.."

What a wonderful Lord's day! I am able to be at home, we were even able to worship with our brothers and sisters in Fayetteville, Ga. and then at the late service at Mt. Juliet through the modern technology of streaming. This avenue is such a wonderful blessing thank you to all those you devote their time and expertise to it.

Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God...."

Quiet time in the hollow. As the sleepy mist slowly lifts from the hollow I enjoy watching the changes in the landscape as the sun brings it's morning welcome.
A little sparrow perches on the porch railing looking around before moving on. The stillness of the morning will soon be interrupted by a flock of noisy blackbirds who come by every morning, as if to say wake up.

Take time to enjoy the quiet times and know our God. He is all around us.

Matt. 19:14 "....suffer little children and forbid them not to come unto Me: for such is the kingdom of heaven."

Every visit I have is special, in this case I never expected my littlest visitor to be so compassionate and sincere, this came so natural for him. He wanted to be sure I was getting the best tasting food I could and that my medical equipment was working properly.

My concern was how my new hair-do (bald) would possibly scare him. He was totally unaffected. He saw past my illness and just wanted to talk.
That was sincere love from the heart, not the outward appearance. We can learn so much from spending time with our little ones and see why Jesus made time for them.

Proverbs 18:24....there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

Being part of God's family has giving me more blessings than I could have ever imagined. During this journey my family has grown, not only do I have my immediate family but I have countless brothers and sisters in Christ who through their prayers, loving kindness, and hugs in envelopes give me the strength to face each day. Being a friend is such a wonderful opportunity, being a brother and friend is a gift we can each give. I thank God for each one of you.

Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice."

Today I rejoice once again in the day that the Lord granted me. Birds greeted me for breakfast as I watched the rain clouds roll nearer the hollow. There are times when words cannot describe the joy that is felt by just having my loved ones around sharing. Take time to spend with those you love, make time to share your thoughts and pray together.
Rejoice in the little things that brings a smile to your face, they are gifts from God.

Psalm 46:1

"God is our refuge and strength
a very present help in troubled times."

Today as I rest I am enjoying the distant sounds of a thunderstorm which soon brought the rain blowing against my window. There has always been something comforting to me as I feel safe in my home during a storm, just as I feel safe now as God is supplying me with my strengths in my current life storm.
