My Visit to the Creation Museum

Today's post is written by Danielle Ringold. She was able to visit the Creation Museum and we are sharing thoughts and photos from the visit. I was able to visit when it just opened up and they have added a lot since my visit. We really enjoyed it! My thoughts that I have added are in (parenthesis). And, I have added a Pocket Facts Printable that can be used with or without going to the Creation Museum. It can be used to look at some Bible Facts Creation to Jesus Christ & Paul.

In October 2014, I had the opportunity to go to the CreationMuseum in Petersburg, Kentucky with my five year old daughter. Kids are free in 2014!

We had such a wonderful visit. I do believe the museum is geared towards middle school kids through adults, but my daughter loved walking into a pretend archeology site and feeling a real fossil.

She also loved the way some Bible people were brought to life with life-like figures in settings that seemed too real.

As an adult I appreciated the way the museum began to flow following the 7 Cs of God’s eternal plan. It started with Creation, which felt like you were walking through the Garden.

It then went on to Corruption. Corruption was the fall of man when Eve decided to eat the forbidden fruit and shared it with Adam. Sin changed everything in God’s original design. (One of the things I appreciated was the fruit on the tree. No apples! The Bible doesn't state what kind of fruit. Genesis 3:1-6)

One of the most memorable parts of the Creation Museum was the Catastrophe portion of the Cs. The catastrophe this is referring to is the Great Flood. Noah and his family members seemed so lifelike. You feel as if you step back into time and are literally watching the ark being built. There is also a scale representation of what we believe the ark looks like based on the Bible.

The path of the museum then takes you through four additional Cs including: Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation. The final three Cs are in a short film setting called The Last Adam. It is a must-see video that I know you will enjoy.

(I loved this video! If you click here, you can see it on YouTube. I love the Roman soldier just casually discussing another day at work, crucifying people. Just another day. Just another crucifixion. Putting the fear in the citizens. This video really makes you think about the Old Law & New laws, but the end is denominational showing the scriptures for being saved by God's grace. That is all true, but what about the other steps to salvation and that grace? Acts 2:38. What about baptism? Revelation 2:10 What about staying faithful? 2 Timothy 4:7-8 [Also, make sure you see the film 'Men in White'.])

The grand finale of the museum tour is getting to enjoy the beautiful gardens they have created. It is the perfect place to do an impromptu photo shoot of your kids or just fun to enjoy a walk. I noticed a pond, petting zoo, and small ropes course. We just enjoyed the beautiful pathway through the gardens. I highly recommend October weather for the gardens!

And the gift shop was really nice. You can look online here to purchase items, but I did see visuals and books that were nice for teaching!)
