Moses: Birth - Marriage

https://www.biblefunforkids.com/2013/08/moses-birth-marriage.html
Today's lesson starts our Moses series! I will set up a table/tables and add a visual each week so the class can see the life of Moses all in order, and the kids that miss a class will still be able to see what we learned. And it will help with reviewing his life in order. Today we are starting a map and they will have a cut and glue workbook for this quarter. Today's take-home is a slider that has the birth of Moses in order that I put together before class and we will use it during the lesson.

We will be learning about Moses for this quarter. Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Old Testament. Exodus is the second book of the Bible and is where we find the lessons we will study about Moses. Today's lesson is found in Exodus 1-2:15.
Moses’ father was Amram, and his mother was Jochebed. Moses had a sister Miriam and an older brother named Aaron. Moses starts the book of Exodus by saying that Joseph and his family died and the new king of Egypt, called Pharaoh, didn’t know about him (Joseph). Pharaoh said that the Israelite people were mightier and there were a lot more of them than Egyptians and Pharaoh wanted to make the Israelites slaves.

Pharaoh put taskmasters over the Israelites and even though the taskmasters made it hard for them as slaves, they still were very healthy and strong. And the Egyptian taskmasters made the people make brick & mortar and anything else they needed.
Pharaoh was so worried about the number of Israelites; he told the midwives that delivered the Hebrew babies to kill the boy babies when they were born.  If the baby is a girl, she would be permitted to live.

But the midwives feared God and saved the boy babies. When Moses was born, his mother, Jochebed, hid him for 3 months, but when she couldn’t hide the baby anymore, Jochebed made a basket from the bulrushes. Jochebed put Moses in the basket and put the basket in the weeds on the bank of the river.
When the Pharaoh’s daughter opened the basket and saw the baby, she knew he was one of the Hebrew babies.
Miriam, Moses’ sister, asked the Pharaoh’s daughter if she wanted her to find a nurse for the baby. Miriam went to get their mother and Pharaoh’s daughter told Jochebed, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you money to do this.”
As he grew, the Pharaoh’s daughter called him Moses because “I drew him out of the water.”
One day after Moses was an adult, Moses saw an Egyptian beating one of his Hebrew people. Moses looked around, and didn't see anyone, then Moses killed the Egyptian and buried him in the sand.
The next day, there were two Hebrew men fighting and Moses asked them why. One of the men replied to Moses “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?”
Moses was scared that everyone knew what he had done! When Pharaoh found out, he wanted to kill Moses, so Moses ran.
We will study where Moses runs to and what happened to him next week!

This is today's project, which I used with the lesson. Cut the parts out, leaving the bottom strip with the pictures as one long strip. I used my craft knife to slice the sides open on the box of the top right main visual. I glued one of the tabs (far left side) to the right side of the picture strip. I started from the bottom right and inserted the strip through the right open side of the box, then down through the left side. Then, I glued the other tab so both ends of the picture strip will not be able to keep sliding through. I had these prepared before class.
