God Makes Flowers and Plants

Several printables and ideas to learn about the plants & flowers God creates.

I wanted to do something about the life cycles for plants with this file folder game, and really wasn't sure how I was going to add that. I started with the right side first, because I wanted the flowers.
So, for the left side I added the life cycle. I used my craft knife and made slits, put 2 layers of Scotch tape on the back of the numbered dirt piles, and slid the tape through the slit. That created a lift-the-flap type design for each cycle. But, as I was doing it, I think if you are unsure about making the slits, you could just cut the dirt numbers out and let the kids learn number order also and just lay the dirt on each plant in order.
If you have the kids put the numbers in order, then you can work on numbers, colors,
God makes the rain, sun, plants, flowers, people, dirt & grass, etc. This is the finished inside with the rain and sun so you can discuss what the plants need. You can print the FFG here.
I also made the lift-the-flap plant life cycle chart. I printed both pages on cardstock, and on the first page, I used my craft knife to make the slits to 'lift the flap'. I bent the flaps, and put glue around all the edges and carefully laid the top piece to the bottom to make the chart.

For a craft, I used the flower pattern from the FFG and printed the patterns on cardstock. I planned to print one pattern and use it to cut flowers out from craft foam, or you could even use felt... but my granddaughter loves to paint, so I decided to let her. Also, letting the younger toddler learn to paint is interesting, so after painting, I used Glitter Glue (or Tim Holtz Distress Stickles) for the sparkle. And, I let them add bee & butterfly stickers to the flowers.
I cut them out and we glued them to the large craft sticks and they poked them into the pots with the floral foam I had left over from some other craft project.
You can print the pattern for the flowers here.

I also found this at Hobby Lobby to use with this lesson about plant life cycles! I saw it first here and when I went looking for this one, I found the butterfly, frog and ladybug!
