Ruth continues with lesson 11 in the second quarter of our Bible study with preschoolers.
There is so much to learn from Ruth!
Ruth is found in the Old Testament in the book of Ruth.
Her mother-in-law’s name was Naomi. Both of their husbands had died, so they
decided to go back to Bethlehem where Naomi had family.
Ruth had
told Naomi “Please do not make me leave you. ‘For wherever you go, I will go
and wherever you live, I will live.”
Ruth and Naomi moved to Bethlehem, and it was the beginning of the barley harvest. There was a very rich man who was a relative of Naomi’s husband and his name was Boaz. Ruth went to the fields to gather grain for bread.

Ruth worked
hard, all through the day and didn’t stop to rest very much. Boaz saw her in
his field and asked the servants who she was. The servant told him that she is
the woman that returned with Naomi. Boaz went to Ruth and told her to stay in his
fields to pick up grain and to stay close to his workers. Boaz told Ruth that
he instructed his men to stay away from her and that she could drink from his
water. Boaz was keeping Ruth safe.
Ruth asked Boaz
“Why are you being so nice to me?” Boaz replied, “People have told me about all
the things you have done to take care of Naomi.”
Boaz asked her to eat a meal with him and when they were finished eating, Ruth went back to the fields. Boaz told his servants to leave extra grain in the field on purpose for Ruth to pick up. Ruth picked up grain all day until evening.

When Ruth
went home in the evening, Naomi asked her where she worked that day and Ruth
told her about Boaz. Naomi told Ruth that Boaz was a relative and it was a
blessing that he noticed her and protected her. Ruth kept going every day to
the barley fields until the end of the harvest.
Ruth was a
good worker and took care of Naomi by collecting as much grain as she could.
Boaz and Naomi were married and had a son name Obed. Obed had Jesse and Jesse
had David. We will learn about David next week.
The review project for this week is this cut & glue the facts in order. The above teachers completed visual is included and has the basic prompt for each photo. This includes the color and black and white for the students. Click here to download.
I added this extra set of printables that you may like. I printed the grain (color and black & white included) and tossed them onto a piece of felt. I added some grain I purchased also. You can print and make one of the baskets that are included, or use purchased baskets. We let the students collect the grain like Ruth did. This is so much fun for kids! Click here to download.
